Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is a vibrant city that seamlessly combines modernity, tradition, and natural beauty. Located on the Arabian Peninsula along the Persian Gulf, Abu Dhabi is the largest of the UAE’s 7 emirates and one of the wealthiest regions in the world, thanks to its vast oil reserves. Visiting in November was truly an unforgettable experience as the weather was ideal for exploring everything this remarkable destination has to offer.

- Transport: Use ride-hailing apps like Uber or Careem for convenience. For exploring beyond the city, renting a car is a good option.
- Dress Code: Dress modestly, especially at cultural sites.
- Tipping: Not mandatory but appreciated (10-15% in restaurants is common).
- Plug: Type G plug, characterized by three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern, similar to the UK standard.
Abu Dhabi offers a wide array of attractions that cater to every traveler. From cultural landmarks and architectural wonders to thrilling theme parks and serene beaches, the city never fails to impress.
AIRPORT AND FLIGHTS
Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH):
- The main airport in Abu Dhabi.
- Located about 30 kilometers (18 miles) east of the city center.
- It’s the hub for Etihad Airways and serves international and domestic flights.
Several airlines operate flights from Athens International Airport (ATH) to Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH). Carriers such as Etihad Airways, Aegean Airlines and WizzAir offer direct flights, while others may provide connecting options. Flight durations for direct routes are approximately 4 to 5.30 hours.
Angel’s tip: It is very common to find flights with WizzAir from Athens round trip 100-150 euros.
Dubai International Airport (DXB):

- Approximately 130 kilometers (80 miles) away from Abu Dhabi, about a 1.5-2 hour drive.
- One of the busiest airports in the world, offering a wide range of international flights.
ACCOMMODATION
Based on the things I did and I recommend, these areas below would be the most convenient for your stay:
- Yas Island: Ideal for visiting Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, Yas Waterworld, and SeaWorld. Staying here keeps you close to all the major theme parks and attractions. Angel’s tip: I chose the Warner Bros hotel in Yas island and it was amazing! Super located! I didn’t pay anything for the 4 theme parks as one ticket per day was included in the room price.
- Saadiyat Island : Great for visiting Saadiyat Beach, Louvre Abu Dhabi, and Qasr Al Watan (Presidential Palace). It’s also quieter and more relaxed, perfect if you want to enjoy art, culture, and beaches.
- Corniche & Downtown Abu Dhabi: Convenient for visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Emirates Palace, and the Presidential Palace. You’ll also be close to shopping, dining, and the city’s top landmarks.
- Al Maryah Island: If you want to explore shopping, luxury, and dining options, this is a central location near the Galleria Mall and Abu Dhabi’s financial district.
TOP CULTURAL AND ARCHITECTURAL WONDERS
1. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
A masterpiece of Islamic architecture, this mosque is a must-visit for its pristine white marble domes, intricate chandeliers, and serene ambiance. It’s one of the largest mosques in the world, and the craftsmanship will leave you in awe. Angel’s tip: The mosque is free to visit, and entry is generally available every day (except Fridays, when it’s only open in the afternoon for visitors).
It’s important to follow the dress code:
- Women: Must wear long sleeves, long skirts/pants, and a headscarf (provided if needed).
- Men: Should avoid shorts and sleeveless shirts; long pants and sleeves are required.
2. Louvre Abu Dhabi
Located on Saadiyat Island, the museum’s stunning dome design alone is a reason to visit. Inside, you’ll find an impressive collection of art and artifacts from around the world.
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Sunday: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM. Angel’s tip: It is closed on Mondays.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi ticket prices are:

3. Qasr Al Watan (Presidential Palace)
This majestic palace showcases the UAE’s rich heritage and governance. Its intricate designs and gardens offer great photo opportunities

- Children under 18: Free
You can purchase tickets online through their official website or on-site, though buying in advance may save time.
4. Al Ain Oasis
Al Ain Oasis is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest oases in the UAE, known for its lush greenery, traditional falaj irrigation system, and peaceful atmosphere. Explore the shaded paths, learn about the history of the oasis, visit the Al Ain Oasis Visitor Centre, and enjoy the natural beauty of date palms and traditional architecture!
- Ticket Price: Free entry.
- Opening Hours: Typically open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
THEME PARKS AND ADVENTURES
1.Ferrari World Abu Dhabi
A thrilling indoor theme park located on Yas Island, known for its high-speed rides and Ferrari-themed attractions.
- Main Attractions: The world’s fastest roller coaster, Formula Rossa, family-friendly rides, simulators, live shows, and Ferrari-themed exhibitions.
- Opening Hours: Typically open daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM (subject to change).
- Tickets: AED 295 (around $80) for adults, AED 230 (around $62) for children (3-12 years), free for kids under 3.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the park entrance. Angel’s tip: There are also combo passes available if you plan to visit other attractions on Yas Island, like Yas Waterworld or Warner Bros. World.
2.Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi
An indoor theme park perfect for families, featuring beloved characters, immersive lands, and thrilling rides and attractions based on Warner Bros. characters like Batman, Superman, and Scooby-Doo.
- Tickets: AED 295 (around $80) for adults, AED 230 (around $62) for children (3-12 years), free for kids under 3.
- Opening Hours: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM.
3.Yas Waterworld
A water park with over 40 rides, slides, and attractions, including the world’s first hydromagnetic water coaster. Amazing for all ages!

4. SeaWorld Abu Dhabi – Hypersphere 360
A 2023 addition to Yas Island, offering an immersive underwater experience in a spherical theater. An incredible marine-life theme park, featuring exhibits, aquatic shows, and thrilling rides.

5. Abu Dhabi Desert Safari
Experience the magic of the Arabian desert and a thrilling adventure into it with activities like dune bashing, camel rides, sandboarding, and traditional entertainment (belly dancing, henna painting).
- Duration: Typically 4-6 hours.
- Timing: Most safaris start in the late afternoon, with sunset views, and end in the evening.
- Price: AED 150–300 (around $40–80) per person, depending on the package.
- What’s Included: Pick-up and drop-off, dune bashing, camel ride, BBQ dinner, and entertainment.

- Corniche Beach: A popular free beach with stunning views of the skyline and clear waters, great for a family day out. You can find lounges, walking paths, cafes, and play areas for kids.
- Yas Beach: A vibrant beach on Yas Island, great for water activities, lounging, and enjoying beach clubs and restaurants with water sports. Entry fee (around AED 50–100).
- Mina Bay Beach: A quieter beach with a relaxed atmosphere, often less crowded than other beaches. You can find loungers, cafes, and nearby shops. Access is free, but some private clubs may restrict access.

- The Beach House – Saadiyat Beach Club: A chic bar on Saadiyat Island with amazing views and a laid-back atmosphere, perfect for sunset drinks. Angel’s tip: You can check prices for a visit to the beach bar (215-375 AED pp) and book here.
- Yas Beach Bar (on Yas Island) : A lively beach bar offering cocktails, music, and a great vibe for evening relaxation.
- Café del Mar (located in Yas Bay Waterfront): A famous beach bar known for its chill atmosphere, cocktails, and panoramic views. Angel’s tip: They have often parties during the day and night!
- The Palm (on Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa) : A laid-back beach bar with stunning views of the mangroves, ideal for a peaceful evening.

A 4-DAY ITINERARY FOR ABU DHABI

- Morning: Start at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, exploring its art and architecture while it’s less crowded. Enjoy lunch at The Souk at Qaryat Al Beri, with stunning canal views.
- Afternoon: Visit the Presidential Palace (Qasr Al Watan) for a grand cultural experience.
- Late Afternoon/Evening: Head to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque just before sunset to witness its beauty as day transitions to night. Angel’s tip: Walk to Wahat Al Karama for stunning sunset reflections of the mosque and serene photo opportunities.
Day 2: Adventure & Fun on Yas Island
- Morning: Start with an adrenaline-filled experience at Ferrari World, home to the world’s fastest roller coaster. Head to Yas Mall (next to Ferrari World) for lunch. Angel’s tip: It is not a great idea to have full breakfast before in case you plan to do all the roller coasters in FW.
- Afternoon: Spend the afternoon at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, where you can enjoy immersive attractions and meet your favorite characters.
- Evening: Explore Yas Bay Waterfront or Yas Marina and dine at one of its waterfront restaurants like Cipriani or Stars ‘N’ Bars.
Day 3: Yas Waterworld & SeaWorld
- Morning: Enjoy thrills and slides at Yas Waterworld, a fun-filled water park with rides for all ages.
- Lunch: Eat at Yas Waterworld or grab a bite nearby at Yas Mall.
- Afternoon: Visit the 2023 opened SeaWorld Yas Island for an unforgettable marine-life experience.
- Evening: Take it easy and relax at your hotel or spend the evening at Yas Bay Waterfront. Stroll along the promenade, enjoy the vibrant vibe, and have a dinner!
Day 4: Desert Safari & Palatial Visits
- Morning: Start the day at the Presidential Palace (Qasr Al Watan) to marvel at its architecture, grand halls, and cultural exhibits.
- Lunch: Enjoy a meal nearby, like at Al Fanar Restaurant for traditional Emirati food.
- Afternoon: Head out on a desert safari adventure: dune bashing, camel rides, sandboarding, and a BBQ dinner under the stars.
Optional Extra Day: If you find yourself with extra time, or prefer to take it easy and not do something from the above, consider a day at one of Abu Dhabi’s beautiful beaches or beach clubs. Saadiyat Beach Club and Yas Beach are popular options for relaxation and watersports, offering a perfect mix of leisure and luxury. You can also explore the vibrant Beach Rotana or unwind at Zaya Nurai Island, a private island with crystal-clear waters.
