<\/p>\nPaxos (or Paxoi) is a charming and picturesque island in the Ionian Sea, off the coast of Greece\u00a0 and there is no doubt that it is is a hidden gem that will enchant you! It is known for its stunning natural landscapes, including crystal-clear turquoise waters, hidden coves, and lush greenery. Compared to some of the more popular Greek islands, Paxos maintains a tranquil and laid-back atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for relaxation and rejuvenation. The island’s small size and limited tourist infrastructure contribute to its peaceful ambiance.<\/p>\n
Ionian sea (between Greece & Italy) has 7 main Greek islands and Paxos is the smallest one from these.<\/p>\n

HISTORY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n According to the legend, the island would be the southernmost tip of Corfu, if the God of the Sea, Poseidon, had not broken it off with his trident when he needed a god-deserving place to live his love with the Nereid Amphitrite. Wow?<\/p>\n ACCESS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n There is no airport \u00a0in the island.<\/p>\n Angel’s tip:<\/strong><\/span> There are taxis you can use but ideally rent<\/a> or have your own car or scooter to explore the island at your own pace! <\/span>Click here<\/a> to book a car from a site I trust.<\/p>\n VILLAGES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Paxos has three main villages, each with its own distinct character and charm. These villages are:<\/p>\n Of course, there are some other smaller villages too like Magazia, Ozias, Kourteika etc<\/p>\n ACCOMMODATION<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Island is small and the distance between Gaios, the main port and Lakka village which is on the north side of the island is less than 15 minutes drive. Consequently, wherever you decide to stay is fine! Last time I was there, I chose an AirBnb house in Apergatika village between Longos and Lakka but Gaios, Lakka, Magazia are great options in my opinion.<\/p>\n BEACHES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Paxos is blessed with numerous beautiful beaches, each offering its own unique charm and atmosphere – mainly pebbly fyi. Here are only some of the most popular beaches to visit on the island.<\/p>\n On the west side:<\/span><\/p>\n Angel’s tip:<\/strong> <\/span>On the west side of the island, most of the beaches are accessible only by boat! The island is full of small gorgeous caves and beaches around.<\/span><\/p>\n Close to Lakka:<\/span><\/p>\n Between Longos and Gaios:<\/span><\/p>\n Close to Gaios:<\/span><\/p>\n SUNSET<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n The sunsets in Paxos are particularly beautiful and offer stunning views that attract both locals and tourists. The island’s western coast though is the best, with its dramatic cliffs and clear horizons! It provides some of the best vantage points for sunset watching. In my opinion,\u00a0 the best sunset you can have in Paxos Greek island is undoubtedly in Erimitis beach, one of the best I ever had in my life!<\/p>\n Angel’s tip:<\/strong><\/span> Erimitis Bar & Restaurant above the beach is stunning too to have a lunch\/dinner while sunset hour! FOOD<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Paxos offers visitors an authentic taste of Greek island life, with traditional architecture, local tavernas serving delicious Greek cuisine, and warm hospitality from the islanders. Below some restaurants I tried and I recommend:<\/p>\n Other restaurants I was recommended by locals too & tried some:<\/p>\n MUST DO<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n One of the best ways to explore Paxos is by boat. And an excursion in Antipaxos island and the western side of Paxos is a must! You can rent a boat or join a guided excursion to discover hidden beaches, sea caves, and remote coastal spots around the island. Boat trips also offer opportunities for snorkeling and swimming in the clear waters. Angel’s tip:<\/strong> <\/span>I had an amazing day with so much laugh and fun on a guided excursion that was AWESOME! The name of the company is Paxos Classic cruises based in Gaios and captain is Giannis with its “Agios Sevastianos” boat.\u00a0 A local that loves to show you Paxos on his own lovely way and I cannot recommend him enough!<\/span><\/p>\n Antipaxos island is known for its stunning sandy beaches and turquoise waters. Visitors can spend a day exploring Antipaxos, swimming in the crystal-clear sea, and soaking up the sun on the pristine beaches.
