My first trip to Portugal was there, a country that I absolutely loved! So, better to avoid Belem where many hotels are as it is far. My favorite neighborhoods to stay are those who are convenient to walk around on foot like Bairro Alto, Chiado, Baixa, Alfama&#8230;<span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>Angel&#8217;s tip:<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">I picked a hotel in the city center which I truly recommend because of its location, great service and value for money. The name is: My Story Hotel Ouro.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Plug?<\/strong> In Lisbon and generally Portugal, type C (also called the Europlug) and F are the official standards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you need a CAR?<\/strong> When I first booked the tickets I thought that a car is needed. But after a few days that I started arranging my schedule and realize the great modes of transport Lisbon has and the difficulty in finfing a parking spot, I decided not to rent one. Lisbon is a city that you can walk, you can rent electric scooters to stroll around, you can take the trams, tuk tuk, funiculars&#8230; and if you need to go a bit further away, there is uber as well!<\/p>\n<p>In case you want to rent a car, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discovercars.com\/?a_aid=angeliki\">click here for good prices.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>How many DAYS?<\/strong> In my opinion, 3-4 days in Lisbon are enough. Sintra town with the magnificent palaces is a must and would need one more day!<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHEN is the best time to visit Lisbon?<\/strong> Undoubtedly Lisbon is a city that is great and has tourists all year long. But during spring, September-early October or early summer I think is better with this sunny wonderful weather.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>10 THINGS TO SEE IN LISBON:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span class=\"x_s1\">First, one of the most famous squares in Lisbon is the <strong>C<\/strong><strong>ommercial Square<\/strong>. You can start from there. Close to the TAGUS river that crosses the city, Praca do Comercio as it is called in Portuguese, is the biggest &amp; most central square in Lisbon. There stands the impressive arc: Arco da Rua Augusta. Take a photo!<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Another beautiful square in Lisbon is <strong>Praca Dom Pedro IV<\/strong> with the 2 fountains. Have a look!<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"x_s1\">Did you know that Lisbon is spectacular from above? That&#8217;s why there are many <strong>viewpoints<\/strong> where you can go and admire the view from above. Some of them are Miradouro de Santa Luzia, Miradouro S\u00e3o Pedro de Alc\u00e2ntara, Miradouro de Gra\u00e7a, Miradouro Sophia de Mello, Miradouro das Portas do Sol etc<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"x_s1\">Have you heard that Lisbon is famous for its funiculars and trams? Especially the old traditional ones are great for the city since Lisbon has steep and narrow hills where modern trams cannot be used in most of the routes. <strong>Tram 28<\/strong> is the most famous one. I took it for a ride and it passes by many different landmarks and sites!<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2072 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/28B93742-6FC6-4285-8F4B-4551BDC4E8B3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"507\" height=\"634\" srcset=\"https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/28B93742-6FC6-4285-8F4B-4551BDC4E8B3.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/28B93742-6FC6-4285-8F4B-4551BDC4E8B3-300x375.jpg 300w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/28B93742-6FC6-4285-8F4B-4551BDC4E8B3-800x1000.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 507px) 100vw, 507px\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"x_s1\">I took the Gl\u00f3ria <strong>Funicular <\/strong>as well <\/span><span class=\"x_s1\"><span class=\"x_s1\">&amp; it was fun, you pay 4-5 euros in funiculars and they usually drive you from the bottom to the top of a steep hill. I usually visit the main castle in every city I travel to. Don&#8217;t expect something extraordinary inside as you can see mainly walls but the view from Lisbon&#8217;s castle and the walks around with the garden were great! That&#8217;s why I recommend you to visit the medieval castle in this capital with its magnificent view from above and many peacocks around. It is called <strong>Sao Jorge Castle<\/strong> and entrance is 10 euros for adults. <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>Angel&#8217;s tip:<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> You can book in advance to avoid the queue. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2070 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/0D2E680A-6215-4ADD-8519-A4E6517D6C3A.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"473\" height=\"591\" srcset=\"https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/0D2E680A-6215-4ADD-8519-A4E6517D6C3A.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/0D2E680A-6215-4ADD-8519-A4E6517D6C3A-300x375.jpg 300w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/0D2E680A-6215-4ADD-8519-A4E6517D6C3A-800x1000.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"x_s1\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Two other architectural masterpieces in the city are the <strong>National Pantheon<\/strong> &amp; the <strong>Lisbon Cathedral<\/strong>. Both are so impressive buildings that are worth your visit at least from outside. First one was originally a church which was converted into the National Pantheon, in which important Portuguese personalities are buried. And second one, the Cathedral of Saint Mary Major or Lisbon Cathedral or simply the S\u00e9, which is a Roman Catholic cathedral, the oldest church in the city.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\n<div id=\"attachment_2077\" style=\"width: 495px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2077\" class=\"wp-image-2077\" src=\"http:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/BCDF4421-D431-4362-80A1-177D89022236.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"485\" height=\"606\" srcset=\"https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/BCDF4421-D431-4362-80A1-177D89022236.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/BCDF4421-D431-4362-80A1-177D89022236-300x375.jpg 300w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/BCDF4421-D431-4362-80A1-177D89022236-800x1000.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2077\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lisbon Cathedral<\/p><\/div><\/li>\n<li>The most famous covered <strong>food market<\/strong> in Lisbon is undoubtedly Mercado de Ribeira or \u201cTime Out market\u201d. Many shops to buy grocery, flowers or just have a nice lunch. The variety is great with many options of international and local cuisines to choose from.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t forget to stroll around during day &amp; night in <strong>Alfama<\/strong>, the oldest neighborhood in Lisbon. lower part of the city but I <strong>don\u2019t recommend it<\/strong>. 45 minutes queue for 2 minutes &amp; a view that I could simply walk up there.This is the view above.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>INSTAGRAMMABLE spots in LISBON:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have a drink &amp; The last one is a piece of art inside as well. And if you are an art lover, don\u2019t miss the National Museum of contemporary art. Went to Belem with an electric scooter but the majority just\u00a0 takes tram 15 from Figueira or Commerce square or taxi\/uber. <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>Angel&#8217; tip:<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">if you take an electric scooter to visit Belem from the city center choose the sea side as the opposite in the last 2 km is not the best.<\/span> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2107 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_7975-1-1440x1920.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"505\" height=\"674\" srcset=\"https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_7975-1-1440x1920.jpg 1440w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_7975-1-300x400.jpg 300w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_7975-1-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_7975-1-800x1067.jpg 800w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_7975-1-rotated.jpg 1512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 505px) 100vw, 505px\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li>2nd: <strong>CRISTO REI<\/strong>. I took <span class=\"x_s1\">an Uber through the 25 de Abril bridge or you can take a ferry to cross the river in order to visit Cristo Rei statue in Almada neighborhood. The Sanctuary of Christ the King was inspired by the famous Christ the Redeemer statue of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. Not many things to do there but it is quite impressive. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2109 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_8774-1440x1920.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"507\" height=\"676\" srcset=\"https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_8774-1440x1920.jpg 1440w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_8774-300x400.jpg 300w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_8774-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_8774-800x1067.jpg 800w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_8774-rotated.jpg 1512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 507px) 100vw, 507px\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li>3rd: <strong>SINTRA.<\/strong> The magnificent fairytale city, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, famous for the historic center, for its 19th-century romanticism architecture, historic estates &amp; villas, gardens and royal palaces &amp; castles. It&#8217;s like you have traveled through time and I totally recommend this trip. You can find online organized group tours\u00a0 like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.getyourguide.com\/lisbon-l42\/lisbon-sintra-pena-regaleira-cabo-da-roca-cascais-t440176\/?partner_id=566AADY&amp;utm_medium=online_publisher\">this one with getyourguide<\/a> that include the transportation and the whole tour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can also take an uber\/taxi (it took me 30 euros from Sintra to Lisbon) or the train from Lisbon train station to Sintra train station and then tuk tuk, taxi or bus to the palaces. There are more than 10 but you need 3 days to discover all of them. In one day I think you can manage max 3. Ideal is at least 2 days.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>Angel&#8217;s tip:<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">I visited the Pena Palace(my favorite and MUST in my opinion) and the Quinta de Regaleira only as I went only for some hours. Sardines,\u00a0 Shellfish, Bacalhau&#8230; I didn&#8217;t try all the following restaurants but all are recommendations after discussions I had with locals. Many great options either for seafood or mediterranean cuisine.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">In Bairro Alto neighborhood:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>-for tapas style: &#8220;Tapa Bucho&#8221; and &#8220;Taberna da Rua das Flores&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>-for Mediterranean\/Middle Eastern cuisine: &#8220;Tantura &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>-for seafood: &#8220;<span class=\"x_s1\">Sea me&#8221;. This was a <\/span>unique restaurant I tried<span class=\"x_s1\">, a seafood place that you can choose whatever you want and have a relevant dish. For example, I chose the fish I wanted and they made incredible sushi dishes from it<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2088 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_8300-1-1440x1920.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"520\" height=\"693\" srcset=\"https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_8300-1-1440x1920.jpg 1440w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_8300-1-300x400.jpg 300w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_8300-1-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_8300-1-800x1067.jpg 800w, https:\/\/explorewithangel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/IMG_8300-1-rotated.jpg 1512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span class=\"x_s1\">In Alfama neighborhood:<\/span><\/span>&#8220;Sea Me&#8221; restaurant<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"x_s1\">-Taberna do Mar for Portuguese-Japanese fusion cuisine<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"x_s1\">-Casa da Tia Helena for Portuguese,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"x_s1\">-O Corrido \u2013 Casa de Fado for FADO experience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span class=\"x_s1\">In Rossio: <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"x_s1\">-&#8220;Solar dos Presuntos&#8221; for High-end Portuguese cuisine, seafood &amp; meat, <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"x_s1\">-&#8220;Casa do Alentejo&#8221; a hidden gem as locals say with an arabic style inside.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>-&#8220;E Um Restaurante&#8221; as a unique initiative and place of humanitarianism where staff working there are homeless people.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">If you are VEGAN\/VEGETARIAN,<\/span> these are some options you have:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>-Plant base<\/p>\n<p>-Arkhe<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"x_s1\"><strong>Breakfast:<\/strong> Many delicious spots for brunch and breakfast in Lisbon. One of my favorite with a great variety was Fauna &amp; Flora as per picture below. Stroll around and have drinks anywhere! You can find b<span class=\"x_s1\">ars in many neighborhoods like Largo do Carmo, Bairro Alto or Alfama.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you visit Portugal for the first time and you are looking for something traditional, try the<span class=\"x_s1\"> FADO experience, local live music during dinner in specific Fado restaurants. <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>Angel&#8217;s tip:<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Alfama neighborhood has many fado restaurants, I chose &#8220;Casa de Linhares&#8221; <\/span>\u00a0restaurant with amazing singers. Food was ok as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"x_s1\">If you love cocktails and want to visit something unique, I recommend visiting 3 speakeasy bars that are incedible. One is Ulysses speakeasy bar (that you need to book in advance since it is private, only a few sits available), Red Frog Speakeasy and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cincolounge.com\/en\/\">Cinco lounge<\/a>.(not exactly a speakeasy but not easy to find it and amazing cocktails) <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>Angel&#8217;s tip:<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">don&#8217;t forget to try the local Ginja shot any time of the day.
