I don\u2019t think there is anyone that cannot love Paris! Paris is well known as the city of lights, love and fashion and its monuments are famous worldwide!<\/p>\n

Many vote Paris as their favorite city, will you be or are you already one of them? Me? I ABSOLUTELY adore it!<\/p>\n

Let me start with 4 important things to know about Paris!<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Firstly, the Jewel of Paris: Tour Eiffel<\/strong>. The Eiffel Tower was built from 1887 to 1889 by the French engineer Gustave Eiffel, and it is made out of iron. My favorite part of the day is when it sparkles! This is happening every evening after dusk, for 5 minutes at the beginning of each hour.<\/span>\u00a0Each side of the Eiffel Tower has five thousand bulbs on it to create the sparkle effect, meaning that the tower has 20,000 in total!! As part of the City of Paris emergency energy saving plan launched in September 2022, the Eiffel Tower lights will now be switched off completely at 11.45pm every night. Angel\u2019s tip:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0please note that during my visit in June that it is getting dark very late in the evening (sunset is around 22:00 pm) the only best time to observe the sparkling lights is at 23:00. (Earlier than that it is not dark enough & later the lights are switched off)<\/u><\/span><\/u><\/li>\n
  2. Secondly, the River Seine<\/strong>. The Seine is a 777-kilometre-long river in northern France and flows for 13kms through Paris from east to west . Cutting through the very heart of Paris, the Saine passes almost below the Eiffel tower.\"\"<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Paris Subway (M\u00e9tro<\/strong> in French, Subway\/ Underground in English) is the fastest way of getting around the city, open from 05:30 am till around 1-2 am. It is really convenient! The underground system has 16 interconnected lines with so many stops and is also linked to the express train RER.<\/span>\u00a0There are different types of transport tickets: the single-journey called T+ Ticket which costs 1,90 euros, and the weekly or monthly travel cards: Paris Visite and Passe Navigo.\"\"<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. The City of Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements in French, or otherwise administrative districts.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \"ArrondissementsHere\u2019s an overview of some famous Arrondissements of Paris<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Paris 1 \u2013<\/strong> where the Louvre is.<\/li>\n
    • Paris 5\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> The Latin Quarter neighborhood.<\/li>\n
    • Paris 6\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> Saint-Germain-des-Pr\u00e9s neighborhood.<\/li>\n
    • Paris 7\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> The Eiffel Tower District.<\/li>\n
    • Paris 8\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> Where the Champs Elys\u00e9es avenue is which links the iconic Arc de Triomphe with Place de la Concorde.<\/li>\n
    • Paris 9\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> Where you can find Op\u00e9ra Garnier .<\/li>\n
    • Paris 18\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> Where amazing Montmartre is.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

      It is very difficult to cover all the things you can do in Paris but I will try to help you as much as I can!\"\"<\/p>\n

      I will try to explain what you can do each day, with places that are close to each other for more efficiency. If you do not have so many days available for your trip, you can skip something or squeeze the below suggestions!<\/p>\n

      HOTEL<\/b>: My recommendation is to stay close to a metro station! I chose a basic hotel (Hotel Stella Etoile) close to Arc de Triomphe which was not something fancy or spectacular but it literally had a metro station right next to it, which was really handy! I would recommend to avoid areas that are far away from what is considered to be the center of Paris and choose\u00a0 to stay ideally somewhere between zone 1-2.<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n

      -ITINERARY-<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

      Check below an itinerary I suggest and I actually did. If you are planning to go more days, add a day trip outside of Paris or just do more Paris things like amazing coffee shops, restaurants, parks and museums!<\/span><\/p>\n

      Day 1 \/\/ Stops :<\/span><\/p>\n

      -Coffee at\u00a0Caf\u00e9 Marly<\/b> where you can have a snack as well, with the beautiful view of the Louvre pyramid. Angel\u2019s tip:<\/span><\/strong> I made a reservation online and asked for a table outside.\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

      –Louvre\u00a0<\/b>museum, where you need 2-3 hours at least. One of the biggest museums in the world with extraordinary paintings.\u00a0 and statues. Here, you can find Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa ,Virgin of the Rocks, Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace…Angel’s tip:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 Don’t wait in the queue in front of the pyramid which is usually long. Book your tickets online at least 1-2 weeks in advance and head towards “Carrousel du Louvre”, it’s underground and usually the fastest way to the museum. When I went, I had only 2 people in front of me.<\/span><\/p>\n

      .\"\"<\/p>\n

      –Palais Royal<\/b>, check the garden as well.<\/p>\n

      –Jardin des Tuileries<\/b>, a beautiful garden.\"\"<\/p>\n

      –Angelina<\/b> for a hot chocolate \/snack next to the garden mentioned above.<\/p>\n

      –Place de la Concorde<\/b>, one of the major public squares in Paris famous for the Luxor Obelisk (a 3,300 year old Egyptian obelisk erected on the square in October 1836)\"\"<\/p>\n

      –Champs-Elysees Avenue<\/b>,\u00a0 the most famous in Paris & one of the most expensive avenues in the world!<\/p>\n

      –Arc de Triomphe<\/b> de l\u2019\u00c9toile , one of the most famous monuments in Paris with an amazing view from the rooftop (many stairs to go up though) Angel\u2019s tip:<\/span><\/strong> Sunset time is the best time to visit if the weather is good!\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

      Day 2 \/\/ Stops:<\/span><\/p>\n

      -Start you day with a breakfast at\u00a0Carette <\/b>in Trocadero, one of the most famous cafeterias in Paris and everything so delicious.<\/p>\n

      \"\"-Visit the Tour Eiffel<\/b> & Trocadero area to enjoy the fountains and the tower view but don\u2019t miss coming back here again later as the sun in the morning doesn\u2019t help for nice pictures.<\/p>\n

      -Pass by\u00a0Pont Alexandre III<\/b>, a famous bridge known as the most extravagant bridge in Paris. It has been classified as a French monument historique since 1975. Angel\u2019s tip:<\/strong><\/span> You can take the metro from Trocadero to Invalides station that is close by.<\/span>\"\"<\/p>\n

      –Petit Palais<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Grand Palais\u00a0<\/b>are very beautiful. One opposite to the other \u2013 both beautiful inside. Angel\u2019s tip:<\/span><\/strong> don\u2019t miss the cafeteria at the Petit Palais in a beautiful garden.<\/span><\/p>\n

      -Walk around the\u00a0Place Vendome<\/b>, an aristocratic square where the famous Ritz Hotel is.<\/p>\n

      -Palais Garnier, also known as\u00a0Op\u00e9ra Garnier<\/b>\u00a0which is a 1,979-seat opera house open every day from 10am to 5pm\u00a0except on days with afternoon performances and exceptional closures. It costs 14 euros for a self guided tour or a bit more with a guide (you need to book online).<\/p>\n

      –L\u2019\u00e9glise de la Madeleine<\/b>, a beautiful Catholic church.<\/p>\n

      –Galeries Lafayette<\/b>, one of the most popular, chic and distinguished shopping centers in Paris where you can find anything that attracts every fashion and beauty enthousiast! Angel\u2019s tip:<\/strong><\/span> Don\u2019t forget to visit for free the rooftop and enjoy the view. Sunset time is amazing.<\/span>\"\"<\/p>\n

      Day 3 \/\/ Stops:<\/span><\/p>\n

      -Walk on the stalls along the Seine river close to Notre Dame.<\/p>\n

      -Visit the Notre Dame<\/b> cathedral, the stunning cathedral which is closed for renovations till 2024\/25 after the big fire that took place a few years ago. You can admire it from outside only. \"\"<\/p>\n

      -Admire the\u00a0Sainte-Chapelle<\/b>, 5 min walk from Notre Dame and really wonderful inside. Ticket was 11.5 euros.\"\"<\/p>\n

      -Stop at the\u00a0Caf\u00e9 de Flore<\/b> for breakfast in Saint-Germain-des-Pr\u00e9s neighborhood.<\/p>\n

      -Visit the\u00a0Jardin de Luxembourg<\/b>, free entrance and a wonderful garden to relax, walk, have a picnic.\"\"<\/p>\n

      –Pantheon<\/b>\u00a0is an impressive monument\u00a0of neoclassical and Gothic architecture in the Latin quarter\u00a0that\u00a0was initially a church.\"\"<\/p>\n

      -Walk around the\u00a0Quartier Latin<\/b> neighborhood.\u00a0Angel\u2019s tip:<\/span><\/strong> You can have a drink in\u00a0Place de la Contrescarpe<\/span><\/p>\n

      -Pass by the\u00a0Rue Cremieux<\/b> with the colorful houses. \"\"<\/p>\n

      –Le Marais<\/b>\u00a0neighborhood is one of the most popular in Paris with the cute streets, cafeterias, shops, bars\u2026<\/p>\n

      Day 4 \/\/ Stops:<\/span><\/p>\n

      –Musee d\u2019Orsay<\/b>, one of the most famous museums in Paris that holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1914, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, photography.<\/p>\n

      –Montmartre<\/b> neighbourhood : maybe the favourite neighbourhood of many people in Paris. It is well known for its artistic history and the painters in Place du Tertre, the white-domed Basilica of the Sacr\u00e9-C\u0153ur on its summit, Moulin Rouge cabaret (watch a show at night), \u00a0its hidden streets and the nice bars and restaurants.\"\"<\/p>\n

      -Enjoy a\u00a0cruise<\/b> on the river Saine at night. A Seine river cruise is a bit touristy but very famous way to see Paris day and night. These short river cruises allow you to admire many of the highlights of the city like the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay, Notre Dame Cathedral, etc. as you float along the Seine River. Angel’s tip:<\/strong> <\/span>You can book online in advance or you can find one if you go a bit earlier on the departure gate (I found one on the spot below Eiffel tower with the name Vedettes de Paris).\u00a0 I paid 20 euros for 1 hour.<\/span> There are some that combine dinner as well and duration is 2 hours.\"\"<\/p>\n

      EXTRA<\/strong><\/p>\n

      From Paris it is very easy to have some amazing day trips either within the country or other cities in countries close by.<\/p>\n

      Some examples:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Versailles<\/strong> in 35 minutes by train. You can read more below.<\/li>\n
      • Disneyland<\/strong> in 35 minutes by train. The easiest and most straightforward day trip from the city. Located about 35-45 minutes away by RER train, it\u2019s fully designed for a full day of entertainment with two parks, shows, rides and restaurants all in one place. It\u2019s the kind of trip where you don\u2019t need to plan much if you choose not to stay there as many do – you just go early, stay the whole day and return in the evening. Angel\u2019s tip:<\/span><\/strong> The Marne-la-Vall\u00e9e\/Chessy train station is located right at the gates of the Disney Parks.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Monet\u2019s house<\/strong> in Giverny : One of the most beautiful and peaceful escapes from Paris. The journey takes around 1-1.5 hours including a short shuttle from Vernon. Once there, you\u2019ll find Monet\u2019s famous gardens, the water lily pond and the iconic Japanese bridge that inspired his paintings. It\u2019s especially magical in spring and summer when everything is in full bloom.<\/li>\n
      • Rouen<\/strong> in Normandy in less than 1.30 hr by train.\u00a0A historic city that feels like stepping back in time. In about 1h15-1h30 by train, you arrive in a medieval old town filled with half-timbered houses, cobbled streets and an impressive Gothic cathedral!! It\u2019s also strongly connected to Joan of Arc, which adds a deeper historical layer to the visit. It\u2019s compact, walkable and easy to explore in a day.<\/li>\n
      • Chantilly castle<\/strong> (25-30 min direct train from Gare du Nord) : Super close and very underrated. Elegant ch\u00e2teau with art collection, horse stables and equestrian shows. Angel’s tip:<\/strong><\/span> The famous Chantilly cream!!<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Brussels<\/strong> in Belgium less than 1.30 hr by train. The furthest option, but also the most \u201cinternational\u201d feeling trip. High-speed trains take you there in around 1h20-1h30, making it technically possible as a day trip. You can explore the Grand Place, try Belgian waffles and chocolate and walk through the city center. However, it feels a bit rushed compared to the others in my opinion, so it\u2019s better if you leave early and return late.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        \"\"I chose a trip to VERSAILLES and it was really great!<\/b><\/p>\n

        The most famous day trip from Paris is to the palace of Versailles. One of the most visited monuments in the world and it costs only 4 euros one way from Paris by train . Versailles is a city outside Paris, renowned worldwide for the Ch\u00e2teau de Versailles (the palace) & the gardens of Versailles, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Sites.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        Angel\u2019s tip:<\/strong><\/span>Ask the staff in the metro for directions on how you can get there! They helped me & I arrived in 30 minutes from my hotel with the combination of trains they suggested! (Quicker & different than google)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

        Opening times of the palace are 09:00 am -17:30\/18:30 pm depending on the season. Palace is closed on Mondays.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        The Palace of Versailles was the principal residence of the French kings from the time of Louis XIV to Louis XVI. It constitutes one of the finest achievements of French art of the 17th century.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Angel’s tip:<\/strong><\/span>Don\u2019t forget to book your ticket online for the palace days\/weeks in advance & be prepared for queues there. I booked the \u201cpassport ticket\u201d which gives access to the whole estate of Versailles & the gardens – total 28,5\u20ac.(June2023)\"\"<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

        MORE<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
