One of these small Greek islands that you don\u2019t hear often about, full of charm and beauty! Symi belongs to the Dodecanese island group and it is quite far from the capital of Greece, but closer to Turkey.<\/p>\n

The first thing you see when you arrive is Yialos which is the port and capital of the island as well. Soooo picturesque, literally love at first sight!\"\"<\/p>\n

DODECANESE ISLANDS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Dodecanese Islands are a group of 12 major islands and numerous smaller ones in the southeastern Aegean Sea, near the coast of Turkey.<\/p>\n

Here are the primary islands in the Dodecanese:<\/p>\n

  4. Karpathos<\/li>\n
  5. Patmos<\/li>\n

    Additionally, the Dodecanese includes several smaller islands such as Agathonissi, Kastellorizo, Lipsi and others.\"\"<\/p>\n

    IDEAL SEASON TO VISIT:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    During summer, mainly from May to September where the weather is great and you can enjoy the beaches as well. Symi is very crowded though, around November 8th which is the largest religious celebration on the island, the Feast day of the Monastery of Archangel Michael in Panormitis, which attracts visitors from all over Greece and around the world. Panormitis is a holy monastery visited not only by many Greeks but also by people from abroad, who pray for good health, protection, fertility and is renowned for many miracles.\"\"<\/p>\n

    DURATION:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    Many visit Symi as a day trip from Rhodes island but I totally recommend staying at least 3 days, since Symi is amazing! 3-4 days are enough to feel the vibes, stroll around the port and Ano Symi, swim in great waters, taste delicious Greek food\u2026<\/p>\n
