TRIZONIA: THE TINY ESCAPE YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED

Tucked away in the calm waters of the Corinthian Gulf, Trizonia is a tiny, car-free island that feels like a secret hideaway. It’s the only inhabited island in the Gulf, and yet many travelers have never even heard of it. If you’re looking for total relaxation, authenticity, and a real off-the-beaten-path experience, Trizonia might just be your perfect Greek island escape.

How to Get to Trizonia Island

  • From Athens: Start your drive towards Patra, continue past the Rio–Antirrio bridge, head to Nafpaktos, and from there it’s just a 20-minute scenic drive to Glyfada village in Phocis (mainland).

  • From Glyfada to Trizonia: Small boats shuttle visitors to Trizonia in just 4-5 minutes. The ticket costs 2–3€ per person (one way), and boats run frequently, especially in the summer.

What to Expect

  • The island is very small and peaceful, with no cars or scooters — just charming walking paths, sea views, and pure quiet.

  • There are limited accommodations, so book in advance, especially on weekends or holidays.

  • Trizonia is perfect for a quiet weekend, a romantic getaway, or a family trip. I visited for a friend’s wedding and ended up staying three nights — it was the perfect slow escape.

Where to Stay

I stayed at Trizonia Bay hotel and highly recommend it! Renovated rooms, a lovely swimming pool, and panoramic views made it feel like a hidden paradise.

Where to Eat & Drink

  • Ostria Tavern and Porto Trizonia: Traditional Greek tavernas right by the sea with fresh seafood and local dishes.

  • Saloon: Great for both hearty meals and desserts.

  • Island Beach Bar & Restaurant: A must-visit for drinks, coffee, and beachside lounging with music and laid-back vibes.

Beaches & Swimming

While Trizonia doesn’t have dramatic beaches, its crystal-clear waters are still great for a swim. Locals even swim in the port — it’s that clean! There are also a few small pebbly coves around the island you can discover on foot.

Why Visit Trizonia?

  • No crowds, no noise, no stress.

  • A truly local vibe, untouched by mass tourism.

  • Safe and family-friendly.

  • Ideal for digital detox, slow travel, or short getaways.

Angel’s Tip: Trizonia is one of those places where time slows down. Bring a good book, walk everywhere, eat fresh seafood, and enjoy the simple things — this island is all about peace and presence.
